Ikseon (Ike) Choi, Ph.D.

Dr. Ikseon (Ike) Choi is an assistant professor in the Department of Educational Psychology and Instructional Technology at the University of Georgia, where he teaches graduate courses related to learning environments design and development. He has been leading a variety of research and development projects for case-based e-learning environments and real-world problem solving in both higher education and corporate settings. In order to conduct long-term, sustainable, design-based research on case-based e-learning environments for enhancing college students' real-world problem solving abilities, he has been collaborated with leading scholars in agricultural science, human medicine, veterinary medicine, teacher education, and nano/bioengineering. Through his multi-disciplinary collaborations, he explores the uncertain nature of various types of ill-defined, real-world problems, identifies individual and environmental factors influencing learning and real-world problem solving, and investigates effective ways of promoting the development of college students' real-world problem solving abilities.

Yi-Chun Hong

Yi-chun Hong currently is a full-time doctoral student in the Department of Educational Psychology and Instructional Technology. She also teachs preservice teachers on integration technology into instruction for her assistnahsip. She finished her master's program in Instructional Technology from the University of Georgia. Prior to attending UGA, she worked as a development editor in Pearson Education Taiwan for developing secondary students' English textbook.

Eddie Hutchinson

Eddie is a part-time Master's student in the Department of Educational Psychology and Instructional Technology at the University of Georgia.  He has over 15 years of software development experience.  He received a B.B.A. in Information Systems from Georgia Southern University.

Eun Ju is a full-time Master's student in the Department of Educational Psychology and Instructional Technology at the University of Georgia. She received her B.A. in Christian Education.

 

Thomas (Tom) Lechner

Project Involved: Global Collaborative Learning Projects

Tom Lechner currently is a full-time doctoral student in the Department of Educational Psychology and Instructional Technology. He has been a high school teacher for 15 years prior to coming to UGA, spending 12 of those years as an ESL teacher in Japan. Tom's main interest is international collaborative learning projects, and he has coordinated several large projects involving students from 14 countries around the world. He is a co-instructor of a seminar course at UGA with participants from India focusing on Global Collaborative Learning Projects. Tom is keenly interested in using case-based learning projects in courses taught at UGA's Costa Rica campus to bring more authenticity to the experience of students participating in the Study Abroad Program.

Sang Joon Lee

Born in Seoul, Korea, Sang Joon Lee received his B.A. in Education from Seoul National University in 2000 and M.S. in Instructional Technology from Utah State University in 2003. At present, he is a full-time doctoral student in the Department of Educational Psychology and Instructional Technology and has been working in the Learning and Performance Support Laboratory at the University of Georgia. His current research interest focuses on students' learning experiences in student-centered learning environments.

Josh Squires

Project Involved: CBL-MDPS Project - Multi-disciplinaryProblems (3D Virtual Environments)

Josh Squires is a full time doctoral student in the department of Educational Psychology and Instructional Technology. Josh also runs an instructional design consulting firm focusing on providing educational value to industrial training through innovative e-learning. Josh currently is the Instructional Technology studio assistant as well as a graduate assistant for an introduction to technology graduate class for class room teachers. After finishing a Masters degree in Computer Education and Cognitive Systems from the University of North Texas Josh went on to work as a Multimedia Instructor then Program Chair for ITT Technical Institute providing real world problems to challenge his design students. Josh utilized his connections in the Video Game industry to facilitate opportunities for his students to work on actual production projects while taking classes at ITT. Josh's main research interest is in devising creative methods of bridging communication divides through case-based constructivist learning in 3D Virtual Environments using tools commonly found in the Video Game industry.

Seow Chong, Wong

Seow Chong is currently a full-time doctoral student in the Department of Educational Psychology and Instructional Technology at the University of Georgia. Prior to this, he was a part-time tutor cum research assistant with the Department of Learning Science and Technology at the National Institute of Education in Singapore. He received his M.Ed. in Instructional Technology at UGA. Seow Chong is interested in exploring the relationships among teachers' epistemological beliefs, their beliefs about teaching and learning, and their beliefs about the use of ICT in teaching.

Kazuya Takahashi

Kazuya is now a Masters student at the University of Georgia. He also works for the Seigakuin University General Research Institute in Japan and is an independent consultant for Blackboard Japan. Before he came to UGA, he worked as a digital archivist both for the British Library and the Research Institute of Digital Media and Content at Keio University in Japan. He has a M.A. in Medieval Studies at Keio University.

Myoungiin Yang Tollett (Jina)

Jina is the Director of IT Services at the Center for Family Research at the University of Georgia. She oversees Application Development and Data Management, IT Support, and Multimedia Design and Development sub-units at the center. She is also a freelance contractor in the areas of Instructional Design and Development for companies such as Delta Training Solutions and Cox Communications. She has a B.S. in Biology and has earned a Masters Degree in Instructional Design and Development in the Department of Educational Psychology and Instructional Technology at the University of Georgia.

Christine (Jung Eun) Shim

Christine has been working as an Instructional Designer in the Corporate Learning and Development team at UPS. Her role is to design and develop web-based training courses for UPS employees. She graduated from the University of Georgia with an MEd in the Department of Educational Psychology and Instructional Technology - Instructional Desgin and Development. She also worked as a graduate assistant in the Educational Technology Training Center (ETTC) at the University of Georgia from August 2005 to May 2007. She assisted instructors with classroom activities and developed course materials such as handbooks, course manuals, and multimedia resources.
