The Learning, Design and Technology (LDT) program in the Department of Educational Psychology and Instructional Technology at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia is pleased to announce the position of Assistant Professor (9-month, tenure track). The LDT program Department seeks an energetic individual who has an established or clearly emerging scholarly agenda in educational technology, learning sciences, and/or information science to begin as soon as January, 2010.

Requirements:
  • An earned doctorate (by time of appointment) in a field related to educational technology, learning sciences or information science;
  • An established or a clearly emerging record of scholarship.

The preferred qualifications of applicants for this position include:

  • Experience and leadership in using technology in K-12 education contexts or experience and leadership in school library media;
  • Experience teaching with emerging online learning technologies;
  • Experience teaching at the graduate level;
  • A research agenda in one or more of these areas: K-12 information services and resource management, games and simulations for learning, information organization, technology planning, social constructivist theories applied with technology, taxonomies (including folksonomies, Dublin Core, etc.), digital libraries, and information literacy.

The teaching responsibilities of this position will primarily be at the graduate level. LDT students aspire to be college professors, school library media specialists, K-12 technology leaders, instructional designers, or multimedia developers. These audiences are reached through online courses, face-to-face courses at the main campus in Athens, and face-to-face courses at our new Gwinnett Campus (http://www.uga.edu/gwinnett/). Face-to-face teaching includes traditional models and studio models (see http://ldtstudio.coe.uga.edu/). The candidate will be expected to advise doctoral, specialist and masters students; maintain a strong research agenda as evidenced by refereed publications; and successfully seek external funding.
