Instructional Design Activity: Course Design
Your IDA was evaluated by: Dr. Law Overall Instructor Rating: Satisfactory Ratings explanation:
Instructor's Overall Feedback: Hi Cheryl: Thank you for revising your ICMs and resubmitting them. I'm still confused on your intent. Is the instructional goal focused on the procedure of how to recycle (e.g., which bin to use, where to put it for pick up, etc.)? If so, what you have is pretty close. My focus would have been more on how to make the proper selections for each category. For example, what is included in the category "plastic" and what is excluded. I would think this is a good opportunity for instruction. If there are errors on the procedures that you are trying to correct, then perhaps your focus is more appropriate. This would assume that people attempting to recycle are not making errors on the category classifications. Dr. Law. Hi Cheryl: Much of what you have in your ICM is right on target. Where it needs some work is in the enabling tasks/objectives with 3.1, 3.2, and 3.3. Your learner needs to be able to identify (or classify as you have it) types of plastic, paper, and glass that are acceptable for recycling in each of these categories. You have it for paper, but not for the other two on the same level. If you want to fix this part of it and resubmit it to me, I'll update your rating. Dr. Law.
This activity builds on the needs assessment IDA. This IDA is divided into two parts. First, you will design a rough outline of a course. In this context, "course" is defined as an instructional entity, which has both a recognizable start and finish point, and has an organized set of content. It is the most general instructional solution to a problem identified in needs assessment. Second, you will choose one of the units from your course design and design a rough outline of that unit (of course, in the 'real world', you would do this for all of your units). The activity is designed to give you hands-on practice with course- and unit-level task analysis. |
