Instructional Design Activity: Course Design
Your IDA was evaluated by: Dr. Law Overall Instructor Rating: Satisfactory Ratings explanation:
Instructor's Overall Feedback: Hi Larry: You did a nice job on the Course and Unit design IDA. You broke down the Unit objective into lesson objectives that were logical and supportive of the learning objective. My concern is that the demonstration of the procedures is somewhat lost in the design as the emphasis is on using the correct tools, verbal commands, and check list. I realize that using the correct verbal commands, in essence, demonstrates knowledge of selecting the correct procedure to perform. I would reverse the emphasis placed on the use of the verbal commands and the steps used to perform each inspection procedure. It seems like the verbal commands would be subordinate to the objective of performing each procedure. Let me know what you think. I may not understand something about the context that makes a difference on how to approach it. You don't need to make any revisions. Good work on this assignment Larry. Dr. Law
This activity builds on the needs assessment IDA. This IDA is divided into two parts. First, you will design a rough outline of a course. In this context, "course" is defined as an instructional entity, which has both a recognizable start and finish point, and has an organized set of content. It is the most general instructional solution to a problem identified in needs assessment. Second, you will choose one of the units from your course design and design a rough outline of that unit (of course, in the 'real world', you would do this for all of your units). The activity is designed to give you hands-on practice with course- and unit-level task analysis. |
